ANA RAUSCH, SR/WA
Candidate for IRWA International Vice President
This time last year, I was serving as your International Secretary
and assumed I would be elected to the position of International
Treasurer. It was something I took for granted and as many of you
know, it didn’t happen. I have spent a lot of time reflecting on
my first year serving on the International Executive Committee,
the future of our Association and about all of you. With defeat
comes learning and I’m here to tell you that I have learned
and grown from this experience. Over the last six months, I
have spoken with many of our fellow members at all levels of
the Association to better understand the changes we are all
seeking—specifically related to our education programing and
instructor development—and how we can come together as an
Association to make the IRWA work for everyone. I am humbly
asking for your support to allow me the opportunity to finish
serving on the International Executive Committee and to help
bring forward the changes you want to see.
I have learned that we need direct communication between
IRWA officers, Chapter leaders and our members. We must
make sure that all of your voices are heard and that our actions
as elected leaders reflect what your voices have said. If I am
fortunate enough to earn your trust, I will insist on establishing
town hall meetings across the Association throughout the year
to make sure your voice is not just heard but listened to.
We need to reach out and include our mid-career professionals,
who represent the bulk of our membership and should never
be taken for granted. We need to make sure that this IRWA
silent majority has a strong voice and gets the very best our
Association has to offer, starting with leadership training. And
there is so much to be gained by fully engaging our young
professionals, who has such a strong grasp on what IRWA needs
to do to become a magnet for new talent in the industry. I want
to make sure this group’s needs are met as they grow into IRWA
leadership positions. The Association must also be more inclusive
of its committee and community of practice members. They
deserve a seat at the table so we can benefit from their expertise
and experience.
I am proud of the work I have done over the years to serve this
Association and I know in my heart that my work is not done.
I am committed to engaging all our members and listening to
each and every one of you. I respectfully ask for your vote and if
you support me for the position of Vice President, I will strive to
earn your vote every day. I am listening and I hear you. Let’s grow
our Association together.
Thank you for your support.
Ana has been a member of IRWA’s Gulf Coast
Chapter 8, Region 2 since 1992.
