JAKE FARRELL, SR/WA
Candidate for IRWA International Vice President
Serving as your International Treasurer this past year
has been one of the greatest honors I have been given.
My passion to give back to this Association drove me to
challenge the status quo of the IRWA, and to think critically
about where we should be as an Association and how we
should get there.
It is clear that our industry and the political environment
around us is changing. How we understand and
communicate with our members, stakeholders and partners
must be an inclusive two-way process with all opinions
heard. We should govern our Association the way that we
would expect to engage a community during a project:
with open communication and transparency. Every decision
should be focused around the returned value to our
members and sustainability of the Association.
My vision for the IRWA would be to truly be outward
facing—not just to the industry that we belong but to the
masses. As our infrastructure ages, technology advances,
political friction continues and the economy becomes more
volatile, the IRWA has a tremendous opportunity to be a
part of the conversation. Ethical right of way practices and
public engagement should be the norm across the country
and the world.
I truly believe that strategic alliances and partnerships
with other associations to help educate our members on
areas that impact our work is key to our success. We must
also expect our members and leaders to be engaged and
accountable in the direction and success of the Association.
I am grateful to have been trusted as your voice. I ask for
your vote and support as I submit my name for the office
of International Vice President for the International Right of
Way Association. I pledge to continue to advocate as your
voice during the constant transformation of the Association.
Jake has been a member of IRWA’s Platte River
Chapter 78, Region 3 since 2006.
