Mark Murray Named Vice President at G&P Land
Mark Murray was named Vice President
at G&P Land, a right of way and
land acquisition firm that provides
comprehensive services to oil and gas
pipeline companies, public utilities and
railroads. In expanding the firm’s right of
way services to electric utilities, Mark will
lead the New Mexico-based division with a concentration on
Indian and Public Lands.
G&P Land founders Craig Weaver and Mark Pickering
established the firm in 2007 with a primary focus on serving
oil and gas pipeline companies. “We want to further expand
our specialized services to electric utilities that are working to
build new power delivery infrastructure, as well as renewable
generation projects,” said Craig. “With Mark Murray’s
experience in the industry, we are confident he will provide
a unique service, especially when it comes to projects that
require collaboration with Indian and Federal Lands.”
Mark, a native of Albuquerque, began his career in the
electric utility industry with Plains Electric Cooperative
Association. For 30 years, he managed transmission,
engineering and land departments for power suppliers
to rural electric cooperatives in New Mexico, Nebraska,
Wyoming and Colorado. He has successfully negotiated
easements for power lines, generation facilities and
telecommunication projects across private, tribal and public
lands in seven Western states. Most recently, Mark was
Federal Land Manager for Los Angeles-based Southern
California Edison. He was also Department of the Interior
Secretary Salazar’s appointee to the Bureau of Land
Management’s Desert Advisory Council from 2011-2013.
An IRWA member, Mark is highly involved in the Western
Utility Group, serving as its chairman from 2006-2012.
Collaboration with the Indian Tribes and Bureau of
Indian Affairs requires specialized knowledge and proven
experience. For electric utilities looking to gain new rights of
way or renew expiring easements, G&P Land can help with
this crucial, portion of large-scale energy projects. G&P Land
is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, and Mark will head a
new office in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
A history of providing the best people and services for land and right of way acquisition.
